| Chemical and radiological effects on mammal's health due to uranium (U). The case of depleted uranium (DU) |

The Balkan conflict is responsible not only for the well-known disasters but also for several medical problems due to environment pollution with DU. This element is toxic and also radioactive. It causes alterations in kidneys, liver, lungs and intestine. The extent and seriousness of these alterations depend on the time as well as the way of intake from the animal (inhalation or swallowing). The intention of this paper is to briefly analyze all these pathological cases which could appear in mammals due to DU.
