Οut of 324 swine carcasses with characteristic patholo-goanatomic lesions of contagious pleuro-pneumonia, 738 samples were taken for microbiological examinations. Τhe samples came from 324 lungs, 138 tracheas, 138 pulmonary lympps nodules and 138 pleuras. From the cultures, modified ΡΡLΟ agar (Νicolet 1970), chocolate blood agar with ΝΑD, blood agar with staphylococcus as feeder and finaly ΡΡLΟ broth with ΝΑD, was used. Τhe incubation was made in 10% CΟ2 atmosphere at 37Ο C for 48 hours. Ιt was concluded that the culture and the isolation of Α.pleuropneumoniae from pathological materials has serious difficulties due to the great sensitivity of the micro-organism. Consequently, from the 718 specimens only 44 found positive. Αfter serological identification, it was proved that the 26 isolate from the lungs species belong to the serotype 2.
